Raise Up Massachusetts: Lobbying for a $15 Minimum Wage

On Tuesday, CEO and Founder of PharmaLogics Recruiting, Megan Driscoll, spent the day at the capitol for a public hearing on legislation for a $15 Minimum Wage. Uniting together with other businesses and individuals, she listened to heartbreaking testimony of those currently living on minimum wage in Massachusetts and provided testimony of her own on the powerful business impact financially stable employees can have on their workplace. When asked about her experience, Megan had this to say:

“I’m so grateful to be a part of a movement to increase the minimum wage in Massachusetts. It was heartbreaking to hear the testimony of so many that struggle to meet the basic needs of their families while working 40 hours at minimum wage. Close to one million people live at the minimum wage in Massachusetts and this number is disproportionately made up of women and minorities. This cycle must end. Every CEO of every company should make it their job to find our if their employees have enough to live on. Thousands on minimum wage live in shelters with their kids. No employee who works a full time job should be forced to live in a shelter. If this is happening, the CEO needs to know this and change it. If you are selling your goods or services at a price that relies on $11 per hour labor to produce it, then you are undercutting the market place and allowing poverty to persist. #bethechangeyouwishtoseeintheworld”
